Face Fit Testing

It is a legal requirement for workers using RPE (respiratory protective equipment) to have been fitted by a competent face fit test provider. Research has found that a substantial amount of RPE used doesn’t offer the wearer the protection that they believe they have.

As this is an up and coming problem and many sites use RPE we have invested in a competent Fit2Fit RPE qualitative face fit tester. The competent person is accredited by the Fit2Fit scheme and is competent to carry out fit tests.

What is Qualitative face fit testing?

Put simply qualitative face fit testing is a compatibility test between the wearer and their chosen/preferred mask. Qualitative Face Fit tests are suitable for all different types of half masks and disposable filtering face-pieces (FFP). Pass or fail is determined from a taste test using sweet or bitter tasting aerosol mist in a controlled space. If you can’t taste the mist your mask is appropriate. If you can taste the … we will look at other masks that may more suitable to your needs/ fit correctly.
